The beginning of the trail that leads to the rivers is close to the 45th parallel.  A great way to discuss what latitude is with the kids - homeschooling never takes a vacation.

If you're 8 and bored what would you do in the car?  Grace made a swing seat for Speckle.

Near the Tower Falls area

The kids playing on the rocks

A grizzly bear on the distant hillside.   People waiting along side the road for a glimpse at the bear.  We waited about 30 min to get our view & pictures.  When you see a group of people wit their cameras, binoculars, & spotting scopes you know something good is there to be seen!

a hot spring run off- amazing colors of burnt umber and green algae

Near the base of Tower Falls- can't remember the name of the river- there are so many of them in this area

Preston before we descend into the river area

The photographer/guide insisted on taking a picture of everyone.  I finally consented despite wanting to take pictures not be in them!
