Friday:  Well after a 3 ½ hour delay due to HEAVY rain- thunder. lightening, pouring rain- when we couldn’t pack the van we are finally on the road. YEAH!!!  Thanks you, Lord!  The sky is clearing  and the colors are amazing, actually almost eerie.  The journey of 7500 (estimated) miles begins with the first foot.  So we are off- the plan is to take RT 84W from Meriden, Ct to Scranton, PA where we pick up RT 81S until we reach RT 80W.

Saturday:We made it as far as Scranton, PA last night.  And woke up eager to get farther west today.  We have 19 hours until we reach my sister’s place in Hutchinson, MN. The hotel had breakfast but I enjoyed some home made date bars that friends of ours made for us to take on the trip.  Thanks to Donna & Pete and their girls for making us some healthy, baked goods. We hope to make it a little west of Chicago today.

Sunday: This morning we are waking up in Morris, Il- just west of Chicago. Today we will cross the mighty Mississippi river and arrive in MN- land of lakes and Scandinavian descendants.  The trip has gone well almost no hitches since leaving Friday- a slight detour from missing an exit but we recovered quickly (more to follow later).  Need to run to Walmart while everyone else is sleeping and get a few things we forgot.
